Brooke Thomas Trego William Brooke Thomas Trego (1859 - 1909), was born in Yardley, Bucks County PA in 1859. He studied under his father, the artist Jonathan Kirkbridge Trego, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, then at the Académie Julian in Paris under Tony Robert-Fleury and William-Adolphe Bouguereau. He is well known for his depictions of American Revolutionary War and Civil War subjects. His depiction of drama and attention to detail made his works so popular that art historian Edwin A. Peeples said "There is probably not an American History book which doesn't have (a) Trego picture in it". return to William Brooke Thomas Trego
