Carl F. Hecker
Biographical Information

   Carl F. Hecker (1827-1897), was born in Germany on March 14, 1827, the son of Ferdinand and Caroline Hecker. He emigrated to the United States and lived in New York City and Hoboken. He was married to Bertha Hecker and raised a family of five Children; Guido, Constant, Bertha, Emma, and Lina. Carl Hecker was known as the teacher of "thousands of artists" and the founder of the Carl Hecker School of Art in New York city. Some notable students include Frederick Simpson Coburn (1871-1960), Charles William Jefferys (1869-1951), William C. Ostrander (b.1858), and Frederick Strothmann (1879-1958).Carl Hecker died in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1897.
